Should I contact an Atlanta personal injury lawyer if I have been bitten by a dog or other vicious animal?

Hiring an Atlanta personal injury lawyer is a necessary step in making sure you receive justice if you are bitten by a dog in an animal attack. Dog bites and other animal attacks are traumatizing experiences, especially if a child is bitten. According to the Georgia Department of Community Health, about 4.7 million people are bitten by dogs every year, but only about 17% of those bites are actually reported. A personal injury lawyer can inform you of your rights as victim of a dog bite or other vicious animal attack.

There are 3 reasons why you should contact an Atlanta personal injury lawyer if you are bitten by a dog or other animal:

  1. Dog bites often result in lasting, serious physical injuries.
  2. An animal attack injury can leave the victim scarred and/or disfigured.
  3. Medical bills resulting from a dog bite can be expensive.

A personal injury lawyer can help you ensure your medical bills are paid and you are compensated for time you may have missed at work as well as your pain and suffering.

Dog bites also cause emotional damage. Being bitten by an animal is a very traumatic experience that can haunt the victim for years to come. Dog bites can result in issues ranging from a slight phobia of dogs to even Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. These issues can be even more upsetting if the victim is a child. Trauma from a dog bite accident can be similar to that of a car or bus accident.
The dog that bit you may have been illegal. Some areas have bans on certain breeds of dog that are often considered vicious, such as pit bulls, boxers, and Rottweilers. Most areas also have some form of a leash law, and the animal’s owner may have been in violation.

Dog bite laws are complex and vary based on jurisdictions. An Atlanta personal injury lawyer has experience in dealing with the unique circumstances surrounding animal attack cases.

Atlanta injury lawyers technology update:

In an effort to keep you informed of evolving use of cutting edge technologies, Atlanta Injury Lawyers Mark Link and Houston Smith provide this post about crime fighting technology.

As with any new technology every use intended and unintended cannot possibly be explored. We offer this blog post for informational purposes only and do not necessarily endorse the use of this technology.

Dunwoody Police Department Adopts New Crime Fighting Technology

The Dunwoody police department has recently adopted new crime fighting technology to help local citizens fight crime in their neighborhoods.  Crime Alerts From The Patrol Car To Your Phone Or Email.

It’s called Interactive Defense System and it’s a new social network site specifically for crime. Dunwoody is the first police department in the country to use the program. The best way to describe it is high-tech community policing. “It’s similar to any other social media, Facebook, MySpace, that type of program,” said Officer William Furman.

Designed as an interactive website it offers direct two way communication with officers patrolling the area. This enables residents the ability to report suspicious behavior, notify officers when they plan to be away from their homes and also recieve an e-mail or text alert from an officer once they have checked up on a home while residents are away.

The manufacturer Interactive Defense, LLC, Deploys First Online Public Safety Network in City of Dunwoody, Georgia launched the website October 5, 2010.

You can view this cutting edge website technology in use at the Dunwoody Police Department website. Here is a screen shot of the website.

Interactive Defense Systems helps fight crime

The network, Interactive Defense System, will help the Dunwoody police officers to stay in closer contact with local residents and businesses. The network will allow police to give the community immediate notification of missing children and criminal suspects who pose a threat. Interactive Defense will also allow Dunwoody’s 37,500 residents to share crime tips more directly with officers and with each other, request officer assistance, and notify officers when their homes will be vacant due to moves or vacation.
